The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has declared the condition of 23% locomotives and 24% wagons of Pakistan Railways as poor.
The Asian Development Bank report has given suggestions for improving the railway sector of Central Asian countries including Pakistan.
In the report, 23 percent of railway locomotives and 24 percent of wagons in Pakistan are said to be in bad condition.
According to ADB, the railway sector in countries of the region, including Pakistan, is facing financial problems, and there is a need to increase leasing or private sector partnerships for the improvement of railways in the region.
As other countries, including Pakistan, need to improve staff performance in the railway system, it is imperative for railways in the region to introduce a modern commercial accounting system, says the Asian Development Bank.
