Janat News: Approves | Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approves canal distribution system and wildlife monitoring project

JaipurRajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday gave financial approval for strengthening the canal distribution system and expansion of wildlife monitoring project in the state. According to an official statement, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has given financial approval of Rs 2,500 crore for the construction of Upper High Level Canal from Mahi Project in Banswara district and Rs 129.19 crore for the strengthening work of Shri Haridev Joshi Canal and its distribution system.

He has also approved a budget of Rs 15.30 crore for the year 2022-23 for the expansion of the Wildlife Surveillance Project. Gehlot has also included 121 additional villages in the command area in this project related to the development of tribal areas. With this project, irrigation facility will now be available in 41,903 hectare area of ​​338 villages of Banswara, Bagidaura, Anandpuri, Sajjangarh, Kushalgarh and Gangdtalai tehsils of Banswara district. This will increase the social and economic standard of living of the farmers of the area.

The Chief Minister’s decision is in line with the State Government’s commitment towards conservation and promotion of wildlife and adequate water supply for drinking and irrigation purposes. The Wildlife Surveillance Project is an integrated software-based solution for better monitoring of forest areas, the statement said. Which is equipped with high-end thermal-optical cameras, wireless networks, communication equipment, solar power systems and drones etc.

After successful experience of this system in Jhalana, Sariska, Ranthambore, Mukundra and Jawai, now with this approval, this project will be expanded to important sanctuaries, national parks and other protected areas of the state. With the help of this system, monitoring of various activities of tigers and other wildlife species including poaching, arson, theft of precious wood in forest areas will be done effectively in an automated manner round the clock and seven days.

It is noteworthy that for the protection and conservation of wildlife species, this approval has been given in the implementation of the announcement of a budget of 30 crores made by the Chief Minister in the budget of 2022-23 for the strengthening and expansion of the Wildlife Surveillance Project. With the Rs 129.19 crore sanctioned by the Chief Minister for Haridev Joshi canal system, the efficiency of irrigation water will increase in about 12,891 hectares of land and farmers will be ensured of the water required for irrigation. Hundreds of farmers in and around Anandpuri tehsil of Bagidaura assembly constituency of Banswara district will be benefited by the proposed work. (agency)
