“No favoritism is happening,” he said.

Talking about the viral video on social media, he said that the police was only ‘controlling the crowd’.

All the booth agents of SP have been accused of being thrown out with the intention of creating disturbances.

Let us inform that by-elections are being held on two important Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh – Azamgarh and Rampur. Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat fell vacant after SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Rampur Lok Sabha seat were won by senior SP leader Azam Khan in the assembly elections. Both the seats are considered as strongholds of SP.

Before Akhilesh Yadav from Azamgarh seat, his father Mulayam Singh Yadav was an MP, so the by-election on this seat is a matter of prestige for the SP. On the other hand, Rampur has long been dominated by Azam Khan and SP has entrusted the Rampur Lok Sabha by-election to him.

BJP has once again fielded Bhojpuri film actor Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirhua’ in the by-election being held on Azamgarh seat. At the same time, SP has made former MP Dharmendra Yadav its candidate from Badaun, while Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has bet on former MLA Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali.

The main contest in Azamgarh is believed to be between these three. By the way, a total of 13 candidates are trying their luck in the by-elections in the region.

From Rampur, BJP has fielded Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi, who recently joined the party, while SP has fielded Asim Raja. Mayawati-led BSP is not contesting from Rampur. Lodhi has been close to Azam Khan in the past. He has recently joined BJP.

Even in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the SP had alleged that Muslims were being prevented from voting in the Rampur assembly constituency.

At that time, SP MP Azam Khan had said, ‘Many people were deprived of their voting rights. The police had beaten up people of a community by entering their homes, even women were beaten up.
